International Worker No 239, Saturday, September 13, 1997

"A step closer to an inquiry"

The International Worker spoke to Matthew Parker's father, John Middleton. He said: "The verdict is what we wanted. With what Fred Curtis said on the balance of probability of medical evidence it shows there is a link between Matthew's illness and BSE. I was quite pleased. You heard the gasp when he more or less said there was a link. This is a start for us. It would take years to get all the medical evidence from the government and the Ministry of Agriculture -- I think they are all in with it and a lot of the information has been destroyed -- but I hope it will bring us a step closer to a full public inquiry."
